Fan Fiction Links.
This is a piece of Fan Fiction based on the TV comedy show Modern
Family. The story line in this fan fiction is about one of the
characters (Alex) and her troubles with pregnancy and suicidal
tendencies.
Good: The story is told in such way that keeps you
hooked and interested to continue reading. Specifically the ending,
which leaves you wondering ‘what will happen next’
Bad: Overall,
personally I don’t think this fan fiction worked as it pushed the
boundaries too much on the story line. I think this fan fiction would go
under another genre and not Comedy (which the original show is under)
because in the whole story there’s not one funny line.
2) Revenge
This is a Fan Fiction piece based on the TV Show Revenge. It’s an
episode that follows the death of the dog Sam, and consequences of this
for Amanda and Jack.
Good: It is well written and easy to follow,
making clear what’s going on in the story. It also displays in a very
effective way the relationship between Jack and Amanda, revealing
secrets and exploring what the future may have for them.
Bad: It may reveal too much for one episode, potentially making it hard to follow the story for too much longer.
Overall
I think this Fan Fiction works as it’s effective in telling the story
it wants to tell. It would be interesting to see what path the story
would take after this episode, as it reveals so many secrets.
3) The Hangover
This is a Fan Fiction piece based on the last 2 Hangover Movies. This
Fan Fiction tells the story of a new bachelor party, this time for
Alan’s wedding.
Good: Loved the concept of Alan’s future father
in law spiking their drinks before the wedding, as in the last two
movies it was Alan spiking everybody else’s drinks. It’s a tidy story
which leaves a very interesting idea for a future third movie to expand
on.
Bad: The only problem I had was that the actual story
doesn’t tell that Alan’s father in law spiked the bottle of vodka, it’s
in the introduction/summary of the story. I would’ve rather come across
that in the actual story.
This is a Fan Fiction piece based on the TV show Without A Trace.
It’s a case about a missing boy who got kidnapped outside a grocery
store and his mum shot dead.
Good: Nicely written, short but very
effective in drawing an image of what the story is and what is
happening. Interesting story.
Bad: Not many problems with it, maybe at times a bit more detail would’ve made the story even better than what it is.
5) Lost
This is a Fan Fiction piece based on the TV show Lost. It’s an episode where the characters take part in a soccer match.
Good:
The characters’ personalities are portrayed perfectly to how they are
displayed in the original show. The dialogue fits in perfectly to each
character making the story very easy to follow and enjoyable to read.
Bad:
Even though it’s an enjoyable little story to read, it doesn’t explore
many ideas or situations. It just narrates a soccer game between the
characters. There could have been a bit more to it.
